Norwood offers choice real estate that blends with a growing commercial sector. You’ll find charming older homes including many Victorian houses along gas-lit, tree-lined streets throughout this neighborhood. City services are a priority for the community. Retail and commercial growth is a major attraction for business and residents. Its prime location places Norwood literally in the center of the city, easily accessed by I-75, I-71 and the Norwood Lateral. University and other Clifton-area hospitals are minutes away. Shopping opportunities have doubled with the opening of Rookwood Commons and Pavilion, Factory 52, and new business in the heart of downtown Norwood.
Covering three-square miles, the City of Norwood is located in the heart of Cincinnati and is the second most-populous city in the county with 19,000 residents. In 1809 Samuel Bowman settled in Norwood and the railroad laid its tracks in 1866. In 1869 an 81-acre subdivision called Norwood Heights was platted and the community grew to 423 people. Once passenger trains were established, Norwood (a shortened word for Northwood) grew and in 1888 it became a village with a population of 1000. By 1896 that population grew to 7,000 people. In 1903 the village became a city when residents rejected becoming part of Cincinnati.
